Interesting fact how each of us prefer different kind of foods. Some of us eat large amount of low calorie food, others small amount of high calorie food in order to maintain body weight.
Weight gain occur usually when the second group starts consuming larger and larger amount of the high calorie food and doing less and less physical activity to burn it.
The preference of high calorie food can be explained genetically, researchers discovered the gene responsible for craving of high calorie foods. People who have this gene are not satisfied or dislike the low calorie foods. It won?t cause any problem until the amount is under control and they physically active enough to burn the extra calories.
Our lifestyle differs from our ancestors; today we don?t really do hard labor in our everyday life such as hauling water from the stream, washing and hanging clothes by hand, cutting trees and splitting logs to heat the house, feeding animals or work in the fields and so on. Most everyday physical work is done by machines. We don?t need the high calorie food to keep us going, it stores in fat on our body.
There is no chance yet to turn off the gene but we can learn how to replace the craved high calorie foods and still be satisfied.

I've read the first book from the series, the Twilight from Stephenie Meyer and I loved it. Not being able to put the book down I've stayed up half the night propped up on pillows, giving myself a sore neck, arm and low back plus eye strain, but actually nothing serious that a little aromatherapy wont heal in no time. I can hardly wait to continue reading and see the movie.
Being a doctor of naturopathy, you would think that I'm more down to earth. Yes I'm when it comes to healing but believe me, a little side track into fantasy world will lift your spirit and keep the kid in you alive.
So, when you finished the book, come back down to reality and visit me on my website at www.try-alternative-healing.com. Tell me about your experience in the world of vampires and look around on my website, maybe I can help you with your earthly problems.
Hope to hear from you soon, Erika Szabo ND

Drug errors
You might get the wrong prescription or wrong dose in the pharmacy due to your doctor?s sloppy handwriting or when the pharmacist is not sure but does not double check the prescription. There are several medications that are look or sound alike but are for totally different conditions.
For example:
Celebrex is for arthritis
Celexa is for depression
Clonidine is for high blood pressure
Klonopin is for anxiety and seizures
Lamisil is for fungal infections
Lamictal is for bipolar disorder
Zyrtec is for allergies
Zantac is for acid reflux
Oxybutynin is for overactive bladder
Ocycontin is for pain
Metronidazole is an antibiotic
Metformin is for type 2 diabetes
It is very easy to miss and mix them but this easy mix up might have serious health consequences. You can avoid the mistakes by having your doctor spell the medication and dose for you at the visit, take your note to the pharmacy and have your pharmacist check the prescription and the filled medication label against it. It takes only an extra couple of minutes but it can save you from unnecessary suffering or can even save your life.

One of my visitors asked me about the benefit of taking Memolife capsules. Reading the company ad it sounds so wonderful, gives you the urge to buy it and start taking it if you want a healthy and sharp memory and good health.
BUT let?s look a little closer.
It contains 200mg fish oil.
I recommend 1000mg in my type specific advice for the prevention of heart disease, high cholesterol and blood pressure.
It contains borage.
I rather recommend evening primrose instead for prevention and mostly for the treatment of autoimmun conditions.
For memory preservation and Alzheimer?s prevention rosemary is the better choice in my opinion.
It contains 5mg lecithin
You can get your daily lecithin intake and more by just eating a Brazil nut daily.
Over all, do we need a ?one size fits all? supplement? If we place everything on the scale, it will slide to the NO. In my opinion, nutrition like our shoe has to fit perfectly. The size that is comfortable for my neighbor might be too tight or too loose on my feet. Diet, nutrition, lifestyle has to be personalized to our needs. I can help you to find the best nutrition for you, please visit the consultation page on my website at www.try-alternative-healing.com

Holistic treatment of hemorrhoids
The natural treatments are always personalized; we have to take into account the person?s physical and mental type, existing illnesses and medication use. Herbs can interfere with medications, dangerously increase or decrease their effects or flare up dormitory conditions. For example, dandelion can not be taken by people who suffer from gallbladder problems or alfalfa can flare up lupus symptoms. Therefore, before you start any herbal or natural treatment, please consult a specialist, do not listen to magazine or internet ads or take advice from the sales clerk at the nature store.
What is hemorrhoid?

It caused by a genetic weakness of the veins in the rectal area, sitting or standing for long periods of time, lifting, straining, pregnancy, anything that causes increased pressure.
Drug treatments
Cortisone, Anaplram, Anusol, preparation H are topical treatments that reduce the pain and swelling but they can?t address the causes. They cause allergic reactions and the thinning of the skin and mucous membranes.
Herbs and botanical medicines can help strengthen the blood vessels, decrease the inflammation and stop bleeding. They can also help the constipation that often the cause of hemorrhoids.
Gingko biloba
